WoodMarc was founded in 1988, by Roger Merschman in a small shop approximately the size of a double garage in Des Moines, Iowa. It quickly out grew that facility and moved into a 10,000 square foot space. In 1990, WoodMarc moved into the Massey Ferguson tractor plant on the south edge of Des Moines. Finally in 1992, WoodMarc built a state of the art 125,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Winterset Iowa. The new facility incorporates computerized equipment and automated production lines. In 1997, WoodMarc more than doubled the size of the facility to 260,000 sq ft.
In December of 2000, Nebraska Furniture Mart announced it was purchasing Woodmarc making them a part of the Berkshire/Hathaway family.
In 2005, WoodMarc was sold to Sentinel Acquisitions and became WoodMarc Enterprises, LLC. WoodMarc Enterprises, LLC continues to manufacture product in Winterset including numerous bedroom suites, home theater and home entertainment items.
